Sodalite that is tenebrescent is also known as hackmanite. Unlike Afghanistan hackmanite, if you expose the tenebrescence to a bright white light, the purple fades instantly. In Afghan hackmanite, it takes days or weeks for the purple tenebrescence to fade.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNote: Tenebrescence is usually displayed when exposed to shortwave (254nm) UV light. If there is tenebrescence from longwave (365nm) UV light, these pieces are considered higher value as they are rarer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese pieces can also contain a mixture of other minerals seen under shortwave UV light.
