Found on the North Orebody - North Limb. Under UV, this specimen produces a remarkable array of colors including bright orange, vivid pink-red and contrasting dark franklinite, with additional UV response across shortwave, midwave and longwave. Sterling Hill sphalerite can exhibit a long-lasting phosphorescence or afterglow following longwave excitation. The specimen continues glowing dramatically after the UV source is removed. His connection to Sterling Hill extended underground. Bostwick worked at the Sterling Hill Mine during the 1970s, giving him firsthand access to and knowledge of the mines.

Over his lifetime, Bostwick assembled what has been recognized as the world’s largest reference collection of fluorescent minerals from Franklin and Sterling Hill. His contributions to the field were ultimately honored with induction into the Fluorescent Mineral Society Hall of Fame, and the rare Franklin mineral bostwickite was named in recognition of his contributions.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0714/4253/0600/files/swlw_c3b22cd3-268f-4a06-a189-4b72959ba082.png?v=1788192942
https://www.minershop.com/products/museum-quality-sphalerite-calcite-willemite-franklinite-sterling-hill-mine-museum-ogdensburg-msr1005-105
