MSG1025: Fantasy Rock Monster
OVer 10 LBS of wild colors on all sides
“Fantasy Rock” from Greenland is probably the wildest fluorescent combo I’ve seen. This piece is one of the finest extracted from the Taseq Slope. A true kaleidoscope of color, it contains bright red tugtupite, orange sodalite, white and blue chkalovite, blue/wht analcime, green natrolite, lime-green unknown, yel/grn polylithionite, areas of uranyl green and certainly more. The colors tend to meld together to create other hues, and offer a dazzling array of color.
To top the color off, many areas of the sodalite are quite tenebrescent (as well as the tugtupite). This is a major specimen - it could be broken up to yield a dozen smaller specimens (plus - who knows what mysteries lie inside?) but we can’t just bring ourselves to do it. We are offering this piece for the person who collects only the very best and needs a large (huge) specimen to match his/her current collection.
More information about our Fantasy Rocks can be found in our Mineral Data section.

Greenland Greenland is home to over 250 varieties of minerals. Many of them are fluorescent and new ones are being discovered each year. Tugtupite is perhaps the most famous mineral from Greenland - famous for its deep saturated red glow. Sodalite (var hackmanite) has become famous in the past few years as one of the deepest “color-change” varieties found and is always in great demand. Other rarities include chkalovite, ussingite, sorensenite, polylithionite, analcime, and more. Many of these are tenebrescent, phosphorescent, and have varied responses under multiple wavelengths. All are excessively rare.
The MinerShop web site offers an in depth review of all the fluorescent minerals found in Greenlnad.
