MSC1022: eucryptite and Scheelite
Over 5 1/2 LBS, rich display faces
Rich red eucryptite covers the primary display face on this piece, with areas of a white mineral which has a dull blue glow - probably fluorite. The reverse has a large area of calcite (dull orange), more scheelite and eucryptite.
Eucryptite from China is the brightest variety of Eucryptite I’ve seen, and is a new find that we made last year. Its color rivals that of the nicest tugtupite, with a slightly different hue. Many pieces also have areas of bright blue/white FL scheelite, and some other areas of blue fluorescent fluorite, as well as a dull orange fluorescent calcite. An additional mineral on these pieces is chlorophane, but it is so light sensitive that after only a couple of exposures to UV the fluorescence stops. Initially it is bright green with strong phosphorescence.

Fluorite/Calcite Discovered in a REE mine in the northern districts of China, this material is vividly fluorescent blue under SW/MW/LW. Under SW the color is somewhat purple but still very bright. The calcite is fluorescent orange, best under MW with no response under LW. The patterning is quite unique offering wonderful combination specimens. The fluorite is phosphorescent (brief) and thermo-luminescent.
