Color: Perhaps the hardest to describe is the color of a FL mineral.  Colors are relative to a person’s perception, to the camera’s interpretation, and the intensity of the viewing lights.  Specimens are organized by their predominant color under UV lights

NOTE: If a specimen has multiple colors it will appear in each color range for every color within the specimen - not just the predominant color

Locale: Fluorescent minerals are found everywhere, but certain locales are famous in the world of “GlowRocks”.  Often a specimen can easily be identified by the FL color and the locale.

As MinerShop collects and sells FL minerals we accumulate a large inventory of images. These are placed in this database to provide collectors with a resource to be used to aid in the identification and comparison of various specimens. As this database grows it will be subdivided in categories to allow easier searching.

Presently sorted lists by name, color, and locale are available (all colors are indexed on a single page, all locales on another page, and all names on the final index page). As this database grows individual groups will be stored on separate pages.

EXPERTS PLEASE NOTE: Some images are included without identification.  If you know what they are, the locale or other detials please email webmaster@minershop.com to help improve the accuracy of this database.
