Tugtup Aktoforia - Type Locale for Tugtupite

2001 Exploratory Geo-Adventure

In 2001the webmaster made a trip to Greenland - on a hunch. this initial solo trip was a real eye opener!

I knew I had to bring people back...!

There was so much to see, so much to do. Some day I’ll go back and organize the initial report - but for now visit 2001 general information for a rambling bunch of pictures, thoughts and rocks....

Geo-Adventure 2002

On the 2002 Geo-Adventure we had four total “Geo-Adventurers” (including me). I went a week earlier than the others, and we crossed paths for only a few days (or in the airport).

Howie Green was taken aback with the beauty, solitude, and wonderful mineral collecting - so much so that he returned again in 2003 and 2004. See his trip reports - HG 2002 and 2003

Geo-Adventure 2003

5 people joined the 2003 Geo-Adventure went. One was so enthusiatic about his trip he put up his own web site!

Howie wrote an excellent article for the UVwaves

Geo-Adventure 2004

A total of 7 people went on 2004’s tour. Everyone was set for ten days of camping but the Greenland weather did not cooperate this year. Check out the 2004 trip report of this resoundingly (but soggy) sucessful tour.

Geo-Adventure 2006 (no report was written for 2005)

A total of 7 people went on the 2006 tour. Several new locales were discovered and it was a resouding success. Check out the 2006 trip report written by one of the tour members.

Geo-Adventure Customer Web Sites

Several folks who have joined us on the tours enjoyed their adventures so much that they added it to their web sites - great job!

Luminous Travels

In 2003 Herb Yeates joined the tour group and quickly became a major factor in the success of that year’s adventure. Herb is a long time collector/student of FL minerals, and has earned a reputation for being a knowledgeable and quite capable “glowhound”. He maintains several web sites - until now mostly focused on the wonderful fluorescent minerals of Franklin.

His participation in the 2003 Geo-Adventure brought a sense of reality to this webmaster’s “hobby”. If a die-hard Franklin collector can be wowed by the minerals of Ilimaussaq, than there really must be something to this area!

View Herb’s trip report on his excellent web site - Luminous Travels.

Also, view selected photos from the 2004 trip (and perhaps another trip report someday) on his excellent web site - Luminous Travels - 2004.

Excellent info on Ilimaussaq
