Polylithionite

Polylithionite is found throughout the pegmatite dikes in the nepheline syenites of the Ilimaussaq Complex. Named for the high amount of lithium it contains, tablets up to 4 inches are often found, usually associated with steenstrupine, aegirine and analcime. It is not only found as large plates, but as an accessory mineral in many of the combination specimens - usually adding a splash of bright yellow/white to the other rare minerals. Fine examples can be found in combination with sodalite and analcime resulting in wonderful 3 or 4 color specimens.

The plates of polylithionite are a light greenish color, and fluoresce a brilliant yellow/white under SW UV light. Often solid massive veins are found with compacted crystals.
