Most sodalite from the Ilimaussaq Complex is quite tenebrescent. When exposed to SW UV light they deepen in color - often to a deep purple. This color change affects the fluorescence under SW by causing the color to shift from a bright orange to a rusty orange. The deeper the tenebrescent effect, the dimmer the fluorescence.
Pea-Green sodalite is usually not tenebrescent. Occasional pieces may exhibit a slight color change, but for the most part it is not affected by SW UV. Thus, specimens appear very bright under SW and usually glaring under LW, This variety is most likely the brightest variety of sodalite from the complex (and probably the world).
