Kangerlussaq Tugtupite

In 2005 we discovered a vein of tugtupite in the Kangerlussaq Fjord. The resulting pieces were quite different from any found previously. Most of this material glows a peach/pink color under SW and white under MW. Under LW it is quite similar to sodalite. Almost all are very phosphorescent.

Excellent gem cabochons have been cut from much of this material; their color differs somewhat from cabochons made from Kvanefjeld tugtupite - being a deeper red (tending towards purple) and very tenebrescent.
