Getting There

Getting to Greenland

Perhaps the hardest part of the trip is figuring out how to get there!!!!

2001 Trip

In the summer of 2001 Canada’s “FirstAir” flew weekly to Kangerlussaq (the old Stormstom airforce base). It was a quick hop from Miami to Ottawa, to Iqaluit. Presently there does not appear to be any flights from Canada to Greenland.

2002 Trip

Summer 2002 I flew via Newark to Copenhagen, Denmark and then back to Greenland - a long tiring trip but easy. The return leg required a stay-over in Copenhagen which I would have preferred to have missed. But - a nice bed and bath was good for the soul....

2003 and 2004 Trip

Summer 2003/4 was the best! Hopping on a flight from Baltimore (BWI) to Reykjavik (KEF) and then proceeding to Narsarsuaq (UAK) for a very quick and nice trip. The return leg required a stay in Reykjavik for one day - not a bad side tour...

Iceland Air is planning to offer the same routes this summer (2005). Flights leave KEF on Tuesdays and Fridays (weather permitting).
