Accomodations

Accomodations

There are several guesthouses and hotels in the Narsaq area. We can take care of reservations for you depending on your needs. Some trips we spend as much time in the field (TENTS) with only a couple of rooms for showers and emergencies, others we use the hotels as base camp - it’s all up to the mood of the members that year.

You will find clean accommodations, shared bathing facilities, and common living areas. The “Innkeepers” typically speak no English and are quite hospitable (lots of smiles).

We use three primary guest houses; the Hotel Niviarsak, The “Rock Hut” (our affectionate name), and the “Old Lady’s House (3 bedrooms and a sitting area). There are several others ranging from one which could be considered an almost “3-star” hotel to youth hostels in barns. Average costs around $50 to $75 for a room in a guesthouse.

Niviarsak - Narsaq B&B - Room with an ocean view. Bakeries, grocery stores, etc are all within walking distance.

The “Dining Room” - most of the hotels provide cooking facilties and communal dining areas. Two well stocked grocery stores provide everything needed to whip up a good home-cooked meal. Good thing too, because there are few (one) restaurants in town.

Occasionally the group might decide to pitch camp within the complex. There are several very nice areas allowing easy access to the wonderful minerals and night prospecting - but watch out for rainy days!

The famous “Rock Hut”

It don’t look like much, but many a night has been spent reveling in the day’s finds. 3 bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom to wash off the rock dust (plenty of hot water).

The truck is one of the two vehicles we use depending on avaiability.
