About this Gallery Database
The pictures in this database have been accumulated over the years from my bi-weekly eBay sales, as well as specimens in my personal collection. They are organized primarily by locale. Major localities are represented by dedicated albums (currently Franklin, Greenland, Langban, and the USA (listed by state)). Specimens from the rest of the world are organized in albums based on their geographical location. Simply viewing an album will result in an alphabetical listing of locales and the minerals from that locale.
A search form allows keyword searches for mineral types, characteristics (phosphorescent, tenebrescent, animation, etc), or specific country. Locality info is usually contained directly on the photo If you have a MinerShop specimen number (MSXnnnn) you may do a search for that number (case sensitive).
Each image is tagged with a set of keywords. These keywords are shown as a Keyword Cloud - with size indicating the frequency of each word (larger word, more items with that word). Presently standard keywords used are: colors (preceded with | ), US state (us|AZ for example), country, and number of colors in a single specimen.
Comments can be made on every photo. There is no need to login. Just leave your nickname (and email address if you want a reply). Use the RSS feeds below to be notified of new content.
The Help page graphically shows where various links and buttons are located. The Colors page list the colors used by name on a color chart (every person has their own interpretation of a color).
